Sustainability Seminars & Open House
Press Release - Simpsonville, KY

Simpsonville, KY (October 2007) – Neff Packaging Solutions invited customers, vendors, and local officials to a spectacular Open House that also featured seminars on important industry topics, September 18, 2007 at their new 122,00 sq. ft. facility in Simpsonville, KY.

A crowd exceeding 200 visitors toured the facility with many of the staying for the seminars. Featured guest speaker, Jerry Van de Water, President of the Paperboard Packaging Council led the presentation on “Sustainability in Paperboard Packaging”.

The second seminar on Paperboard Supply & Market Trends featured these guest speakers: Kevin Sullivan – RockTenn, Mike Lappa - Potlatch Corp., Carl Baumgardner - International Paper and was moderated by Jim Younkin of Neff Packaging Solutions.

Both seminars discussed these important subjects: achieving sustainability, certifications, scorecards, modeling software, materials, global warming, importance of virgin fiber, forest certification, and recycling. Both seminars concluded with questions to the speakers. Due to the high level of participation and interest – future seminars are planned.

According to Bob Neff “These topics are complex and need to be discussed in an open forum. There is much being done by our trade association – but more needs to be done to get the message across that forests today are being better managed than many food farms and the carbon benefits and recycling done by our industry. Quantifying our results and proper messaging to our market are important to all of us right now.”

In attendance at this Open House included: Mr. Bob Neff Sr., local and state dignitaries, Neff employees, vendors and customers.
